Happy New Year!
It’s been an interesting year. Mostly very happy, in some ways very sad - but then, aren’t most years like that for most people? Nothing can be all good all the time. There have been many highlights, and the ones I’m taking with me into 2026 are:
- Making my apartment here increasingly more cozy (slowly).
- Meeting some amazing people.
- Several wonderful trips.
- A lot of learning.
I used to say I never wanted to buy an apartment and that as long as I can have a hyresrätt I’d just invest my savings in index funds - why not? But I underestimated the feeling of having a place all your own (ok as ‘all your own’ as a bostadsrätt can be around here). I realized that no matter where ‘home’ takes me (as I’ve said before, I think ultimately for me home is not a place, but a person), I think I’ll always want to keep this place, here.
Today I’m going to chill a bit after a busy week of social activities. It’s snowing (finally!) and I walked over to Tropiska växthuset with my reading, cross stitch, and laptop. It’s nice to be in the humid warmth while it’s freezing outside.
Once I head back home I’m thinking of tackling my spare room - it’s served as a storage room for too long! Time to make a cozy office/study/writing cave.
