So long and thanks for all the fish.

No seriously, Perth had some extremely tasty fish.

I am at the airport, and my plane leaves just under an hour. First I fly to Doha, Qatar and then on to Stockholm, Sweden from there. Sweden will be my fourth country of residence - I’ve gone from Ukraine, to the US, to Australia, and now back to Europe. Four countries in 24 years doesn’t sound like much, but I think it’s awesome that I’ve gotten to see so many different places as a kid.

It was great catching up with everyone over the past couple of months before the move, and I’ll miss you guys. But I will of course keep tweeting and updating this blog, and I’m sure I’ll visit Australia again eventually. I’ve gotten to do a lot of cool stuff over the last 6 or so years. Such as:

  • Finish high school (yay!)

  • Work with really awesome people: Guitar Hero at Interzone (pic via Simon)

  • Sleep under a desk: Desk(pic via Joseph)

  • Test my sword mastery at LARP sword-fighting tournaments: GenghisCon 2012 LARP swordfighting tournament

  • Start learning JavaScript

  • Make a small game

  • Play Guild Wars 2 Guild Wars 2 Collector’s Edition

  • Build my first PC

  • Go to the Gold Coast for EB Expo EB Expo

  • Go to Melborne for Panasonic At San Churros Melbourne after the 2011 Panasonic Home Entertainment Launch

  • Meet lots of really awesome people

  • Get somewhat desensitised to spiders

  • And other great stuff

But as much as I’m going to miss your spiders and other deadly creatures (and most of all people!) I’m looking forward to continuing the journey in Sweden. Australia is great, but over these last 6 or so years it never did feel like the right place for me exactly. That’s a lie. The one time it did feel like the right place is when IZ was, you know, not dead.

(LOL behind me a guy is asking his son what his favorite thing about Australia was after his first ever visit. Response: “THE KANGAWOOOOOS!” “And second favorite?” “THE KOWALAAAAS”). This seems like the perfect time to finish this post. I liked the kangaroos and koalas, too.
